Dear Friends,
We are excited about this new academic year and the dynamic group of socio-legal scholars that have joined the academy. For this moment, I want to take time to celebrate those that have crossed the threshold into the academy. I want to celebrate those that have leaped over the mid-career mark and applaud those who enter 2024-25 as full professors. To our distinguished colleagues that have shown the incredible reach of your work and scholarship, its broad scale and deep scope, and now hold endowed chairs–cheers. We tip our hats.
And to this year’s MacArthur Foundation grantees, including our own Professor Dorothy Roberts, brava! We recognize and toast to you!
Taking a pause to celebrate is key to building forward. It is essential to strengthening our relationships, connecting with our colleagues, and fostering community. Celebrating and spreading a bit of joy is important for our wellbeing.
Congratulations to each of you for the milestones you have conquered. May this year brim with achievements that we will celebrate at the 2025 LSA Annual Meeting in Chicago.
