The Association sponsors three workshops: a Graduate Student Workshop (GSW), which is held annually on two days prior to, and in the same location as, the Annual Meeting; a Didactic Workshop designed for scholars interested in expanding their capabilities by learning data gathering and analysis, which is also held just prior to the Annual Meeting; and the Summer Institute (SI), for junior scholars and senior graduate students, which meets for several days in mid-summer. All programs are designed to introduce new scholars to the field through seminars and workshops taught by established researchers. They also help create networks among young scholars across institutional settings and give participants the opportunity to discuss their research with scholars from other disciplines. The GSW and SI have competitive applications and provide some financial support for those selected to participate.
The 2008 Graduate Student Workshop will be held on May 27-28 in Montréal, Canada just prior to the LSA/CLSA annual meetings. The chair of the planning committee is Patty Ewick. Application information.
