CALL FOR NOMINATIONS

2008 HARRY KALVEN PRIZE

The Harry J. Kalven, Jr. Prize is awarded by the Law and Society Association each year to someone whose empirical scholarship, broadly conceived, has contributed most effectively to the advancement of knowledge in law and society. It is given in recognition of a body of scholarly work, at least some of which has been completed in the past few years. It is not a book prize. Neither is it a "career achievement" award.  The Prize is $500, shared in the case of multiple recipients, and a certificate.  The award will be presented in May, 2008, at the Joint Annual Meetings of the Law and Society Association and the Canadian Law and Society Association to be held in Montreal, Canada. Past winners of this award can be found on here.

The committee to select the year 2008 recipient of the award includes Michael Saks, chair (Arizona State University); Robert Dingwall (University of Nottingham), Carol Greenhouse (Princeton University), Michael McCann (University of Washington), David Nelken (University of Macerata and University of Wales), and Joyce Sterling (University of Denver).

Please send nomination in the form of a letter of support, including the candidate=s vitae (if possible).

Nominations should be made by Dec 15, 2007 addressed to Michael J. Saks, Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law, Arizona State University, Box 877906, Tempe, AZ 85287-7906, or by email to Saks@asu.edu.
